Arrival at the airport. Welcome by your guide and transfer. Boat trip on the Chao Praya River. Visit the temple of Wat Po and its gigantic reclining Buddha.
Departure for Ayutthaya, former capital of Siam and archaeological site world heritage by Unesco. Wat Phra Mongkhon Bophit is home to the largest bronze Buddha in the country. The royal temple of Wat Phra Si Sanphet Wat Lokaya Sutharam and its Reclining Buddha. Lunch and tasting of “Nua Pad Nammanhoi”: fried chicken with oyster sauce and noodles sautéed Thai style. We will continue to Khao Yai via Saraburi, stop en route to Klang Dong tropical fruit market. Visit Wat Theppitak temple. Arrival at Khao Yai National Park. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Transfer by songthaew (local taxi) to the park. You’ll watch gibbons, hornbills and macaques, then hike in the heart of the rainforest (9 km, 4 to 5 hours walk). Picnic at the edge of a waterfall then a new walk in the forest at nightfall, safari organized by the rangers in a van, looking for animals: deer, elephants, civettes, porcupines… Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Departure to Lopburi and visit the Temple of the Holy Monkeys. Road to Nakornsawan via Chainat. Lunch. Continue to Phitsanulok. Visiting Wat Phra Sri Mahathat temple which houses one of the most beautiful Buddha statues in the world.
Road to Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bike tour of its main temples of the 13th century: Wat Mahathat and Wat Sra Sri. Lunch and tasting of “kang musman kai”, chicken curry and coconut milk with potatoes. Visiting Wat Phra That Lampang Luang and continue to Chiang Mai. Kantoke dinner with tribal dance show. In the evening, possibility to go for a night walk to the market. Night at the hotel. (1 to 2 hours walk with several stops).
Visiting an orchid farm and butterflies, pass through the Mae Malai market to buy the fruits and vegetables needed for the next days. Continue to the waterfalls of Mok Fah to relax and swim. Transfer to Baan Pang Lun for lunch, discovery of a Shan village. Walk (about 1h30) to the Karen village of Baan Mae Jok (red Karens tribe, live as peasants). Evening meeting and sharing with locals around dinner. Night at the inhabitant.
After breakfast in the village we will departure for a hike of 3h towards the elephant camp. Lunch will served at the camp. Departure for a tour with elephants: 1h30 through the trails and streams of the Karen White village. Arrival at the village of Bann Pang Khao Lam. Dinner and overnight in the village. (Summary comfort).
During the morning, 3h rafting bamboo on the Mae Tang River. Lunch in a lodge. Continuation of the trek (2h) for a village of the Akha tribe. Dinner and overnight in the village.
After breakfast, hike about 1 hour to a village Shan. Lunch in the village then transfer by local truck to Chiang Mai to your hotel. Dinner.
Visit the temple of Doi Suthep, one of the largest Buddhist shrines in the country. You’ll possible of making an offering to the monks. Stop in Sankhamphaeng to appreciate the diversity of Northern crafts and make purchases of silk, jewelry, parasols … Also you can order a massage before the train ride (optional depending on time and train schedule: aprox 30 € per person. At the end of the day, transfer to the train station for a night train ride (2nd class air conditioned). Dinner (packed lunch) and overnight on the train.
Morning arrival in Bangkok, transfer to the hotel for breakfast and refresh yourself (some rooms will be available). Visit of the Grand Palace and the Temple of Emeraud Buddha
Free time until transfer to airport and flight back to Paris.
